- About Union Square and its history
- Many of Union Square's historically styled office buildings were built at the turn of the 20th century, & are still proudly displaying their gargoyles. These are the buildings that mark Union Square's transformation from a well to do "Manhattan's Four Squares" neighborhood, into a thriving commercial & retail district, that also became a site famous for its parades, demonstrations & speech-making advocating workers rights & women's rights. Unions, socialist, Communist and the IWW all found a place to make their voices heard here.
- The Part 2 of the Union Square slideshow focuses on Union Square's theaterical era, when it was a well known theater district
called the Rialto - with dozens of theaters located throughout the area.
